Award-winning project

In June 2004, the "Promenaden" at Leipzig central railway station received an award from the Urban Land Institute (ULI) Europe. The "Promenaden" won the award against tough competition from 110 submitted real estate projects. The jury made up of architects, civic planners and property managers made particular mention of the idea to build a shopping center with a sophisticated branch mix in a railway station, saying that the "Promenaden" was a key motor for the revitalisation of the city centre. The experts also praised the close cooperation between ECE and the city of Leipzig both in the development phase and during subsequent operation of the complex – a partnership that culminated in the creation of the "city management" concept.
